Share on Twitter Share on Facebook 3 min readJust nine players remain in the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, all eyeing up the $172,870 that awaits the winner.
Leading the way is the same player that started Day 2 as the chip leader Senchylo Zuev who holds a slight lead from Tudor Purice in second and Emile Abi-Daher in third.
The tournament resumes on the live stream at 13:00 local time and plays down to a winner. A reminder that the winner will also receive a $10,400 WPT Championship package for this December.
Seat | Player | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Emile Abi-Daher | 9,075,000 | 72 |
2 | Umit Sadi | 750,000 | 6 |
3 | Senchylo Zuev | 10,775,000 | 86 |
4 | Aleksandre Apryan | 2,125,000 | 17 |
5 | Tudor Purice | 9,400,000 | 75 |
6 | Eduard Bagrov | 6,975,000 | 55 |
7 | Aleksandr Denishev | 2,775,000 | 22 |
8 | Ioan Abrudan | 4,550,000 | 36 |
9 | Samuel Klocker | 2,000,000 | 16 |
A total of 151 players returned for Day 2 at the Chamada Prestige Hotel & Casino, with players such as Bacs Mate, Carmin Zainescu and Tudor Purice among the players to move above the 1,000,000 chip mark during the early going.
Purice (pictured) was one of the few players above two million chips by the second break of the day as the field dwindled to around 60 players, and he led the field when they reached the two table redraw.
Ioan Abrudan got lucky to eliminate Krtulus Albayrak after Abrudan got it in with pocket queens and spiked a queen to crack Albayrak's kings, while start-of-day chip leader Zuev and Purice sent opponents to the rail to pad their stacks.
However, Zuev soared into the lead with a sensational four-way all-in and won a monster side pot to move above 13 million in chips.
He held this chip lead until the end of the day, and will lead the final nine players ahead of the final table.
